Anyway, what seems to have solved the problem is: Uninstall multiple entries of Office from Windows 10 Settings - Apps, as well as from Control Panel - Programs & Features. Really clumsy that we have to check both places. Uninstall Office 32-bit, reboot and install Office 64-bit, reboot again. Bold text now works.
